Appointing Stephen Miller an ‘act of vengeance,’ says Bay Area Dem in scathing tweet

(KRON) -- A Bay Area Democrat took to X Friday to slam the appointment of Stephen Miller as White House Chief of Staff as "an act of vengeance." Progressive Rep. Ro Khanna called Miller "the architect of Trump's rogue immigration policy" in a short video posted to his X.

"Appointing him Chief of Staff is an act of vengeance and retribution against the millions of Latinos who came out to call for abolishing ICE," Khanna said. "No matter what position Miller holds, House Democrats will hold him accountable."

Miller, a longtime advisor to President Donald Trump, was appointed as Chief of Staff Friday following the departure of Susie Wiles. Wiles, who was the longest serving Chief of Staff in either Trump administration, was the second high profile official to leave the administration in the wake of Tuesday's bruising midterm elections.

On Thursday, San Francisco-based attorney Harmeet Dhillon resigned from the Trump Justice Department, where she had served as Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division.

Calls for Wiles to step down surfaced almost immediately in the wake of Tuesday's crushing losses for the GOP. In a post on X Friday, she called serving as Trump's Chief of Staff, "the honor of a lifetime."

Khanna, who was one of the primary backers of California's failing "billionaire's tax" measure is widely considered to be mulling a run for president.
