Today, Nigro Construction delivered 1,445 tools and $1,900 in monetary donations to construction technology students at Southeast Career and Technical Academy (SECTA), helping support hands-on learning as they prepare to enter Southern Nevada’s workforce.
The donation marks the close of Careers in Construction Month, observed each October, and Nigro’s annual ‘Tools for Trades’ Drive.
The community-wide initiative aims to reduce barriers to entering the construction and skilled trades by equipping high school students with the professional-grade tools they will use in the field. With a tool in hand for every lesson, students spend less time sharing equipment and more time developing technical skills, building confidence, and gaining real-world experience through hands-on projects and construction competitions.
“These tools really mean a lot to us. The main thing with career and technical education is building, especially in this construction major,” said Patrick Ray, a senior construction student at SECTA. “It’s all about building, and when we are given these tools, they help facilitate our success in moving into the workforce and becoming productive citizens.”
This year, the drive surpassed its donation goal of 1,200 tools. The contribution brings the total to more than 3,000 tools donated since Tools for Trades began in 2024. Contributions came from local businesses, community members, Nigro’s subcontractors and industry partners, including Lowe’s and Wright Engineers.
As demand for construction and skilled trades workers continues to grow, Nigro’s continued partnership with SECTA reflects its ongoing investment in career and technical education and commitment to strengthening Southern Nevada’s skilled-trades workforce.
“We’re proud to support these students as they build the skills that will strengthen an industry our community depends on,” said Cory Frank, vice president of business development and project management at Nigro Construction. “We’re grateful to our community and partners for their continued generosity and helping us surpass this year’s donation goal.”
