NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – New Hanover County Fire Rescue will conduct a live fire training exercise at 5724 Fulton Ave. in Castle Hayne next week.
“This burn allows our staff to utilize their equipment and tools to address the situation in real time, providing first-hand experience to prepare them for a real emergency situation,” Fire Chief Donnie Hall said.
A safety briefing is scheduled for about 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, followed by the burning of a structure around 8:30 a.m. The exercise will end by 5 p.m.
Residents may see or smell smoke. Fire officials ask people not to call 911 unless they see unattended flames.
