SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) -- Two men were stabbed and a woman was assaulted around 7 p.m. Thursday on Brigadoon Way in East San José. Both male victims were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following the attack, but authorities reported that their conditions have since improved.

San José Police Department Sergeant Tony Diep said responding officers located the victims in the street. “When officers arrived, they located two adult male victims suffering from at least one stab wound each,” Diep said. The woman who was assaulted was treated for her injuries at a hospital and subsequently released.

Diep detailed the updated medical status of both male victims. “One of the adult male victims that was considered life-threatening has been upgraded to serious but stable condition,” Diep said. “The second male is considered non-life-threatening with his injuries.” The woman involved told KRON4 that some of her hair was ripped off during the incident.

San José police officers are searching for multiple suspects while investigators attempt to establish a motive for the attack. Diep noted that those involved were acquainted. “We believe that the subjects involved in this incident are known to each other,” Diep said. “So, there is not a public threat outside of this incident.”

In an effort to move on from the violent incident, neighbors along Brigadoon Way washed away as much blood as they could from the street. Officers have not located any weapon used in the attack.

Diep urged community members to call law enforcement to prevent conflicts from escalating into violence. “Rule of thumb is when you are every confronted with any type of situation where it could potentially get violent, please give us a call,” Diep said. “Give the police a call and let us try to deescalate the situation and calm everybody down and help facilitate any type of argument, so it doesn't escalate to this point.”
